Located near the end of a dead end gravel road in a pasture.  The cemetery contains only one stone(above).  A stout fence protects the stone, and someone has put artifical flowers on the grave within the last few years.  I have found no records indicating other burials there.  Visited by Stephen Stewart Jul 18, 1999.

Mr. Stewart:
First, I want to compliment you on the wonderful job you're doing with the Monroe Co. GenWeb site. Great information!
I was quite interested to find the photos and information on the Newfarth Farm Cemetery on the site. I'm a member of the Kansas branch of this family, descended from a brother of the Henry Newfarth buried there.  According to information passed down in the family, besides Henry and Sophia (Grossmann) Newfarth (Neufarth/Newforth/Neuforth) and their daughter Henrietta, one of Henry's brothers and his wife are also buried in the cemetery:
        George Neufarth
            b. ca. 1841, Franklin Twp, Ripley Co, IN
            m. 21 Sept 1865, Ripley Co, IN
            d. 2 Dec 1869, Guilford Twp, Monroe Co, IA
        His wife -
        Caroline (Miller) Neufarth
            d. 16 Feb 1872, near Hiteman, Monroe Co, IA

Their son George Neufarth, Jr., is listed on your 1935 pension lists, as is his wife Emma (Matthews)
Neufarth. Another child, Mary Ann "May" Neufarth married Robert J. Sterrett and moved to Oklahoma.
The children of Henry and Sophia (Grossmann) Newfarth were:

        1. Anna Mary (1866-1962); m. (1) Audas White; m. (2) Arthur Walker.
        2. Henrietta (1868-1870), buried with her parents.
        3. Jennie F. (1873-1929); m. Michael E. Miller; bur. Union Chapel Cem.
        4. Edward William (1879-1962); m. Marjorie R. Fortner; bur. Palo Alto Cem.,  Newton, IA.

Henry and Sophia (Grossmann) Newfarth were both born in Franklin Twp, Ripley Co, IN, and were married there 18 March 1865. Henry was the son of Johann Philipp and Anna Marie (Michel) Neufarth; Sophia was the daughter of Joseph and Barbary (Bakel) Grossmann.
Please, keep up the good work!
Thanks,
